Start with the symptom
What did your Galaxy do?
Four ways Galaxys arrive, four bench playbooks. Tap yours.
Completely dead power problem, not data problem
What’s actually wrong
- Failed charge circuit or PMIC — the usual quiet killers
- One shorted capacitor making the whole phone play dead
- Deep-discharge battery refusing to wake the board
- Storage chip: untouched, holding everything
What we do
- Bench-supply current analysis finds the fault in minutes
- Direct storage read on eligible models — no boot needed
- Otherwise: microscope repair until the board runs
- Extraction, checksums, proof before payment
A dead Galaxy is a diagnosis, not a verdict — and the diagnosis is free.
Smashed screen the window broke, not the vault
What’s actually wrong
- Destroyed AMOLED — your data sits centimetres below, intact
- Lock screen you can’t see or touch
- Ghost touches mis-typing your PIN toward a lockout
- Drop damage sometimes unseating connectors too
What we do
- Known-good display fitted on the bench
- You (or we, with your code) unlock normally
- Hardware-level access on eligible eras if the board took damage
- Full verified extraction before any repair talk
Power it off if touch is erratic — every ghost tap is a wrong PIN entry you didn’t make.
Water damage a race you can still win
What’s actually wrong
- Minerals corroding tracks long after the phone feels dry
- Salt and pool water — the accelerated version
- Charging while wet burning components in seconds
- IP ratings that expired with the seals years ago
What we do
- Immediate teardown and battery disconnect
- Ultrasonic bath strips corrosion from every joint
- Board repair of what the liquid took out
- Extraction once stable — speed is everything, so call first
Rice does nothing. Power off, keep it off, get it to the bench inside 48 hours.
Locked out what’s honestly possible
What’s actually wrong
- Forgotten PIN on a drawer phone full of photos
- Inherited handsets nobody can open
- Too many attempts — the phone digging its heels in
- FRP after a well-meant reset
What we do
- Pre-encryption and many transition-era models: hardware-level access
- Knox era: the code is the key — we assess and tell you straight
- Proof of ownership required, every time, no exceptions
- Real result: locked Samsungs recovered when the PINs were long gone
The Thomas W. review below is exactly this job — locked Samsungs, PINs lost, everything recovered.
Samsung phone data recovery, fault by fault
Galaxy phones arrive on our bench in four main states. Dead — usually a failed charging circuit, power-management fault or one shorted component; on many models the storage can be read directly regardless, and on the rest we repair the board until it runs. Smashed — a destroyed AMOLED almost never touches the data underneath it. Drowned — a corrosion clock, not a verdict: strip, ultrasonic clean, repair, extract. Looping or locked out after a failed update — the storage is intact behind the fault, and the one dangerous move is letting anyone reflash the firmware before the data is out.
Samsung broken screen data recovery
The most common Galaxy job of all: screen black or shattered, phone otherwise alive, and everything you own locked behind a lock screen you can’t see. Depending on the model we fit a known-good display so you can unlock normally, or use the phone’s wired display and input paths, or — on eligible eras — go straight to the storage at hardware level. Locked and broken together is a combination we resolve routinely, with proof of ownership.
How to recover data from Samsung phones — the era rule
Every recovery decision flows from the phone’s security era: the pre-encryption early years (direct reads, wonderfully forgiving), the transition years (encrypted, but with hardware access paths on many models), and the Knox era (board must run, your code is the key). The full Samsung index shows exactly which era your model belongs to — find yours there, or just call and read us the model number.
How it actually works
How a Galaxy stores your data
Your photos never sit on the storage chip as photos. On a modern Galaxy they’re ciphertext — scrambled data that only becomes pictures again when the storage chip, the SoC’s security hardware and your lock code all cooperate. That’s why we ask for your PIN at intake, why a transplanted chip reads as noise, and why nobody honest promises data from a modern locked phone that isn’t theirs.
It’s also why the era matters so much. Before 2015 most Galaxys skipped the middle box entirely — the chip holds readable data, so a dead board is a detour, not a wall. The transition years kept hardware doors open on many models. The Knox era closed them: the original board must run, and your code is part of the key. Same lab either way — different physics.
One practical upshot worth repeating: never reset, reflash or remote-wipe a phone whose data you want. Those operations destroy keys, and keys are the one thing no lab can rebuild.
On the bench
How we recover a Galaxy phone
Era first, access path second — opened phones are handled under ISO Class 5 rated clean-air equipment.
Identify & diagnose
Exact model, chipset (Exynos or Snapdragon) and security era, then bench diagnosis of what actually failed.
Choose the access path
Direct storage read where the model allows it — even off a dead board — or component-level repair until the board runs.
Unlock & extract
Your PIN, pattern or password unlocks the encrypted storage and a complete copy comes off, checksummed.
Verify & hand over
You see proof of your files before payment, then take delivery on a new drive, new phone or secure download.
Honest odds
What moves the odds on a Galaxy phone
Our overall recovery rate is 92% across every device type we see — but your odds are personal to your device. Here is what genuinely moves them.
Helps your chances
- Older or mid-range model — direct-read paths often exist
- You know the lock code
- No firmware-flash or reset attempts since the failure
- Water phones that were powered off quickly
Hurts your chances
- A shop already tried reflashing or a factory reset
- Severe board damage combined with the Knox era
- Long charger sessions after the phone died
- Salt water left untreated for weeks
Real Samsung recoveries, in their owners’ words

“Absolutely outstanding service from Wildfire Data Recovery! We came to them with several locked Samsung and ZTE mobile phones that we could no longer access due to forgotten or lost PIN codes. From the beginning, their team was incredibly knowledgeable, transparent, and professional. They were able to bypass the lost PIN numbers and also recover them all for us, so we can now use our phones again.”
“Wildfire Data Recovery were fantastic to deal with from start to finish. Extremely responsive to any customer requests and we able to perform data recovery and phone repair where Samsung official repairer advised they would not likely be able to preserve the data. Very satisfied with Viktor and his team. Highly recommend 👌”
“Great communication with fast service, managed to retrieve all family photos and videos off a broken hard drive.”
“Excellent Data Recovery and re set up. Viktor goes above and beyond to explain everything regardless of how long it takes. After disasters through the years gone by with other so-called experts, it was stessfree and a relief to discover Wildfire. Excellent pricing and communication. ☆☆☆☆☆ Highly recommend 👌”

Straight answers
Galaxy phone questions, answered straight
Can you recover data from any Samsung Galaxy phone?
Yes — every S, Note, Z and A series generation, plus the J, M and XCover lines. The method changes with the phone’s security era, but every Galaxy has a recovery path. The full model index lives on our main Samsung page.
My Galaxy’s screen is smashed and it’s locked. Both fixable?
That combination is one of our most common jobs. We restore a safe way to see and unlock the phone — a known-good display or wired paths — or use hardware-level access on eligible eras. Proof of ownership required, and your code stays yours to change afterwards.
The phone shop said they’d reflash the firmware. Should I let them?
Not while the data matters. Flashing rewrites system partitions and one wrong option wipes user data permanently — it’s the Samsung equivalent of iTunes Restore. Get the data extracted first; reflash to your heart’s content afterwards.
My Galaxy died and won’t respond at all. Odds?
Better than you’d think. Many Galaxys can have their storage read directly even with a dead board, and the rest come down to board-level repair — our daily work. The free assessment tells you exactly where your model lands.
What does Samsung Galaxy data recovery cost?
The diagnostic is free on the standard queue (3–5 business days), with a fixed written quote before any work. Critical priority is $650 + GST ($715 inc. GST) for a 24–48 hour start; 24/7 emergency is $1,400 and starts immediately.
