Start with the symptom

What did your Tab do?

Four ways Galaxy Tabs arrive, four bench playbooks. Tap yours.

No.1 tablet faultData untouched

Won’t charge the number-one Tab killer

What’s actually wrong

  • USB-C pins worn smooth by years of daily plugging
  • Solder joints under the port cracked from cable leverage
  • Charge circuit tired of cheap chargers
  • Battery flat so long the tablet won’t trust it

What we do

  • Port replacement — precision work, routine here
  • Charge-circuit component repair under the microscope
  • Controlled bench charge to wake deep-discharged cells
  • Your data never depended on any of it

A Tab that won’t charge is the happiest diagnosis on this page — the data is almost always perfect.

Thin chassisCracked joints

Bent chassis thin aluminium, big leverage

What’s actually wrong

  • Tablets flex — solder balls under the big chips crack
  • Symptoms creep: random restarts, lines, then nothing
  • Screens crack along the bend line
  • The storage chip itself almost always survives

What we do

  • Never bend it back — that cracks more joints
  • Stabilise, then reflow or rework the cracked connections
  • Run the board just long enough to extract
  • Straight advice on whether the Tab has a future

Bring it as-is, bent. The urge to straighten it is the most expensive instinct in tablet recovery.

Kids’ tabletsSchool MDMOwners only

Forgotten PIN the family-tablet special

What’s actually wrong

  • A PIN set by a seven-year-old, forgotten by everyone
  • Drawer Tabs locked since 2018
  • School-issued Tabs carrying MDM profiles
  • Reset warnings threatening the photo library

What we do

  • Older Tabs: hardware-level access with proof of ownership
  • Newer Tabs: honest assessment, straight answer
  • School Tabs: check with the school’s IT first — sometimes free
  • Never reset it — that’s the one permanent move

Proof of ownership required, always. We open family tablets for families, not strangers.

Direct readsDrawer Tabs

Completely dead drawer Tabs are our favourite jobs

What’s actually wrong

  • Battery, port or PMIC — rarely the storage
  • Years flat in a drawer after retirement
  • Water from years ago finally finishing its work
  • Five years of family photos waiting inside

What we do

  • Older Tabs: direct eMMC reads — dead board, full recovery
  • Power-path repair on the rest
  • SD card imaged first if present
  • Proof of your files before a dollar changes hands

Don’t bin a dead old Tab. They recover more often than almost anything else we see.

Galaxy Tab data recovery — the tablet-shaped problems

Tablets fail differently from phones. They live plugged in, so charging ports wear out years before anything else — a Tab that “won’t charge” usually has perfect data behind a $2 connector or a tired charge circuit. They’re thin and travel in schoolbags, so bends and cracked solder joints under the big chips are the classic structural fault. And they’re handed to kids, so drops, spills and forgotten PINs round out the list. None of these touch the storage chip itself.

The drawer Tab problem

The most valuable tablets we see are the retired ones: the Tab 2 or Tab A that was the family camera and photo album for five years, then went flat in a drawer. Old Tabs sit in the friendlier security eras — many allow direct storage reads even if the tablet is completely dead — which makes drawer Tabs some of the highest-success recoveries in the lab. If the PIN is long forgotten, proof of ownership plus the older hardware usually still gets your photos back.

Android tablet data recovery beyond Samsung

Same bench, same rules for the rest of the tablet shelf: Lenovo Tabs, Huawei MediaPads and MatePads, Xiaomi and OPPO Pads, and Amazon Fire tablets (Android underneath the FireOS paint). The Android brands index covers them all — and if a school-issued or kiosk-managed tablet is involved, talk to us first about the management lock before anyone resets it.

The wear item nobody thinks about

Anatomy of a worn charging port

A Galaxy Tab gets plugged in roughly a thousand times a year. Each insertion scrapes the same few gold-plated pins; each cable tug levers the port against its solder joints. After two to five years the pins are polished smooth or a joint has cracked — and the tablet “dies” with its data in perfect health a few centimetres away.

The tell-tale sign is wiggle-charging: it only charges at a certain cable angle, then one day at no angle at all. By the time a Tab reaches that stage the port is beyond cleaning — but far from beyond repair. Port replacement is precise microsoldering work and one of the most routine, highest-success jobs on this bench.

If your Tab already went flat and sat in a drawer, better still: older Tabs sit in the friendly security eras, and many can have their storage read directly — no charging required at all.

How we recover a Galaxy Tab

Tablet boards are bigger, the rules are the same — and the wins are just as good.

1

Identify & diagnose

Exact Tab model and era, then diagnosis: port, battery, board or bend — the usual tablet suspects come first.

2

Restore power or access

Port and charge-circuit repairs, bend stabilisation and reflow, or direct storage reads on eligible older models.

3

Unlock & extract

Your PIN or pattern unlocks what encryption exists for that era, and a complete verified copy comes off.

4

Verify & hand over

Proof of your files before payment, then delivery your way — plus a straight answer on whether the Tab itself is worth reviving.

Honest odds

What moves the odds on a Galaxy Tab

Our overall recovery rate is 92% across every device type we see — but your odds are personal to your device. Here is what genuinely moves them.

Helps your chances

  • Charging-port or battery failure — the data is untouched
  • Older Tab or Tab A — direct-read paths are common
  • The SD card carried the photos
  • No reset or flash attempts since it failed

Hurts your chances

  • A factory reset already ran “to fix it”
  • Severe bend directly across the storage area
  • Liquid left inside for months
  • A managed school tablet wiped remotely before recovery

Straight answers

Galaxy Tab questions, answered straight

Can you recover data from any Samsung tablet?

Yes — every Galaxy Tab generation: the 2010 original, every Tab 2/3/4, every Tab A and A7/A8/A9, the rugged Actives and the full Tab S line to current. Tablets mostly fail around the storage rather than in it, which keeps the odds strong.

My Tab won’t charge at all. Is the data gone?

Almost certainly not — worn charging ports and tired charge circuits are the number-one tablet fault, and neither touches your data. We repair the power path or read the storage directly, depending on the model.

It was the kids’ tablet and nobody remembers the PIN.

Common — and often solvable. Older Tabs sit in security eras where hardware-level access is possible with proof of ownership. Newer models are more limited and we’ll tell you straight. Either way, don’t reset it: that’s the one move that makes it permanent.

It’s a school-issued Galaxy Tab. Anything different?

Yes — school tablets often carry management (MDM) profiles, and the school’s IT can sometimes unlock or back up remotely, which beats lab work entirely. Talk to the school first, then to us; we recover data for authorised owners with the paperwork to match.

Do you do other Android tablets too?

All of them — Lenovo, Huawei MediaPad/MatePad, Xiaomi Pad, OPPO Pad and Amazon Fire. Same bench, same era rules, same free assessment.
